What To Do About The Norton Phishing Error

Many people who have the Norton security system installed on to their computers are finding that when it comes to protecting themselves against phishing attacks that problems begin to occur. Certainly many people are now starting to tell of how when they use this particular program that they get a Norton phishing error message.

Two of the most common error messages that people are now receiving in relation to Norton software programs are as follows:-

1. “Phishing protection has encountered an internal error” 2. “Norton Internet Security has encountered an internal program error”

However we provide some steps below which should help you to rectify this issue very easily.

First, what you need to do is temporarily turn off the Symantec protection that you have on your web browser. In order to do this you need to start up Norton Internet Security.

Once you are in to your Norton Internet Security you need to click on the settings tab and then click on auto protect and then follow this up by clicking on the section called configure.

A box will then appear on the screen in front of you and you now need to go into the Advanced Options section of this box and then click on the section headed miscellaneous. In this you will see a heading called “how to protect my product”. You now need to uncheck this box so that your protection has been turned off. Once this box has been unchecked you can click on the ok button and your Symantec protection has now been turned off.

The next thing you now need to do is download a file from the Symantec website to add this to your registry which says Download Now. If you have any spyware program alerts appear on this file then still allow it to install. Once the file has been downloaded called Security Warning you then need to click the save button. Then you need to double click on “NCO-BHO.reg” and this will ensure that the file required is downloaded and then saved to your PC or laptop. Once the file has been downloaded and saved, the Registry Editor will then ask if you want to add this file to your registry and you just need to click on the Yes button in order to do this.

Once the file has been downloaded, saved and added to your registry you can now turn your Symantec protection back on. You need to use the same procedures that we have mentioned above at the beginning of this article to help you turn your protection back on. However once you have done this you will then need to restart your computer to ensure that the updates you have just loaded on to your PC or laptop are effective. Hopefully by carrying out the steps above you should then prevent any further Norton phishing error messages from appearing on your PC or laptop in the future.
